Amelia in the mud

Amelia Chrispin represented Notts at a very muddy Inter Counties Cross Country

On Saturday 10th March Amelia Chrispin raced in the National Inter-Counties XC Championships, at a very, very muddy Prestwold Hall. Every county in England and teams from Scotland and Wales had held their own Championships, with the best runners selected to represent them in races ranging from U13 - U20.

Amelia,. with 5 other girls, was representing Nottinghamshire in the U13 girls race. The 300+ runners lined up, with a very  muddy testing 3km ahead of them,  in each of their pens waiting for starters gun. Amelia had a good start to the race, but then got caught up on a narrow section of the course about 400m in. At this point she was pushed back to around 90 position as the large field went off into the distance.

She worked hard and as the runners came back into view, for the long drag back to the finish, she was battling for a top 30 finish. She continued pushing herself and crossed the line covered in mud, tired, but happy -  1st Nottinghamshire girl and a brilliant 21st overall. A great run.. The U13G team finished in a creditable 23 place.
