Gold for Ella, Bronze for mum

Bev Hancock reports from the Cannicross National Championship

My daughter Ella and I travelled to Thetford, Norfolk for the 3rd and 4th race in the BFSS National Championships.
Ella had a good run with Louis the Springer on both days, even though on day one the course had been shortened without her being told, so when she came to the finish line, we thought she had gone wrong on the course but all was ok. She came 1st place on both days, gaining her a gold medal for the weekend.
I ran with Magic on the 3.6 mile course. We set off a bit too fast on day one, and we payed for it by mile 3, but we were very surprised to come 3rd on both days in the Veteran Women catagory. Winning us our first National Championships Bronze medal.
The next race in the series is in Scotland next month which unfortunately we can't attend but we have done enough races for a GB ranking, which will be allocated after the last race in Scotland. With Ella's gold placing on both weekends it's looking good for her.
Our next race is a little closer to home at  Prestwold Hall for the 5th weekend in Canicross Midlands Series.
