A better month for the Grove Squash Club

First Team.

 

The First Team in Division 1 of the Nottinghamshire League have been picking up useful points in their efforts to move up the table winning 1 and loosing 2 games during November. The first was a narrow 3-2 defeat to top of the table Grantham with Richard Speed and Chris Gibbons both winning their games. This was followed by a 3-2 win at Trent Bridge with Speed and Gibbons being supported by Paul Burrell in winning their respective games and the third a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Nottingham 2 with Captain Gibbons again securing a victory which puts him in the top 10 in the league rankings. The team currently sit second bottom with a crucial game against Clifton Park coming up in December.

 

Second Team.

 

The second team in Division 3 have won 2 and lost 2 matches during November. The victories came away at David Lloyd 5-0 with victories for Paul Allen, Andrew Sayers, Christian Cardenas, Craig Drury & Paul Drury. This was followed up with a 4-1 home win against Chilwell with Mark Chester along with Allen, Cardenas and Christian again winning their matches. Against Sutton 2 away Barrie Saye along with Sayers managed to win their matches in a 3-2 reversal. The final match was against table topping Racketeers 2 at home which ended in a 5-0 white wash with only Craig Drury & Paul Allen picking up individual points. The team currently sit third in the table and in the individual rankings Allen and Cardenas are both in the top ten.

 

Third Team.

 

In Division 5 the third team only played one game which resulted in a 5-0 defeat away at David Lloyd 4. Pip Barley and Jack Peterken were the only two players to pick up individual points both losing their matches 3-2. The team are made up of new comers to team squash and although they are finding it tough at times they will benefit from the experience and are all enjoying the experience under captain Steve Knowlton-Rayner.

 

Lincoln League.

 

During November in the Premier division of the of the Lincoln League the team managed to pick up their first victory a fine 5-0 away win at Eastgate C. Richard Speed, Mark Chester, Steve Brown, Christian Cadenas & Craig Drury all winning their games. But they did lose the other three but managed to pick up handy points in the process. These consisted of a narrow 3-2 loss to Methringham A with Gibbons & Cardenas winning, a 4-1 defeat at Eastgate E with only Cardenas winning his match and a heavy 5-0 loss at home to Horncastle leaving them one place off the bottom of the table in what was always going to be a difficult season following promotion least term.
