Newark Striders in the news
We’ll start this week’s report with the Retford Half Marathon where PBs fell as large group of Striders took to the roads in ideal running conditions. First to finish in a fantastic new PB time of 1:23:41 was Lewis Hopkinson and second home was Mark Jackson in 1:28:04 PB followed by Simon Roberts, back from injury and finishing his first half marathon race in a brilliant time of 1:33:18. Next back were Richard Scott 1:40:50, Nick Beveridge 1:48:43, Nige Driscoll 1:50:10 PB, Graham Welsh 1:51:11 PB and Kris Fenton 1:53:43. First lady Strider home was Sara Carter, who completed the 13.1 miles in 1:54:40. Simon Palmer and Steve Padgett crossed the finishing line together in 1:55:49, Dawn Johnson 1:56:42 and Mark Winter 1:57:55. Cate Driscoll finished with 2:00:00, Jason Cobb 2:04:19 alongside Dan Endersby 2:04:20 PB, next were Geoff Riley 2:04:40 PB, Sara Whittaker 2:04:57, Donna Wright 2:06:01, Jacqui Jackson & Niceeta Padgett together in 2:11:57, Heather Green 2:21:02 PB, Gemma Latham 2:24:16, Sara Jane Cobb 2:26:30, Lynne Boby 2:28:53, Leisa Pickles & Laura Smith (first half marathon) 2:37:22 and Anthea Moisey 2:40:02 PB. Meanwhile in Portugal, Jon Rawson, Donna Beveridge, Becky Clift and her sister Emily Wilson were competing in the Lisbon Half Marathon in less than ideal running conditions. Jon finished in 1:55:51, Becky 2:08:50, Emily (honorary Strider for the day) 2:08:52 and Donna, returning from injury, 2:51:44.
