Graham’s Striders Update

It was a sweltering Sunday for the annual Notfast 10K race and 17 Newark Striders lined up at the Rugby Club along with the other runners to take on the course and the tough conditions... including that hill. Lewis Hopkinson was the first Strider home, finishing 6th overall, first local runner in 39:11 and first in age group. Next back in 46:57 and also taking first prize in his age category was Peter Davis.

Nick Beveridge was the next from the club to finish, with a time of 48:39, followed by Brian Thompson just inside the 50 minute mark with 49:59. Then came Graham Welsh 52:04, Steven Padgett 52:44 and Sara Carter 53:10, placing 5th in category. Philippa Clarke 53:34, Dan Endersby 56:38, Dan Arkwell 57:39 and Stephen Tomlinson 58:07 complete with trademark sprint finish despite the heat. Next was Andy Scott 59:05, Nick Harrison 1:02:55 with Esther Parry 1:02:56 PB, Stacey Atkins survived a water pistol attack from Jan Bailey on the home straight to register 1:03:46 and Jacqui Jackson and Kath Scott came in together with a chip time of 1:05:14.

Thanks to those who supported and thanks & well done to our friends at Notfast Running Club for your hard work putting on an enjoyable and successful race.

Elsewhere, Steve Martin was in Yorkshire taking on the undulating Burn Valley Half Marathon, finishing with a time of 1:57:09. Karen Hitchisson ran the Tatton Park 10K, recording 56:13. Finally a mention for Nick Beveridge and Stephen Tomlinson who set their alarms early on Friday to be in Nottingham at 05:30 AM for the sunrise run, at least it was cooler at that time of day.
