Road Closures

A rolling road closure will be taking place throughout Newark as the Tour of Britain heads to the finish line on Victoria Road. Roads affected are Beacon Hill Road, Sleaford Road, Queens Road, Northgate, Bargate and Castle Gate.

It is expected that the Tour of Britain will be coming along these roads from 2.45pm onwards. Police will be onsite to enforce these road closures and ensure the safety of all involved. The maximum time for each road to be affected is approximately 30 minutes.

There are some roads closed from 5am to 7pm to allow for the construction of crowd barriers and preparation of the road ready for cyclists coming through. These roads are Portland Street, Victoria Street, Boundary Road and Southfield Terrace.

Roads that will be closed for shorter periods of time are Lombard Street (2pm to 4.30pm), Hawton Road (11am to 5pm), Prince's Street (3pm - 5pm), Albert Street (3pm - 5pm), Farndon Road (2pm - 4.30pm).

It has been recommended by local authorities that anyone planning on coming into Newark avoids driving, opting for public transport instead and for motorists to expect delays.
