First 341 Travel Wright Saturday bus from Fernwood to Newark 10 10.30

The VERY FIRST Travel Wright (TW) 341 Saturday bus leaves Fernwood at 10.30 on Saturday 8th September at 10.30. On the launch day, this bus will be driven by Travel Wright Director, David Wright.
Since Fernwood Village was built over a decade ago, Travel Wright has never operated a Saturday bus service which travels around the village serving the needs of 2500 or so Fernwood residents. This means that folks relying on public transport i.e. the elderly, disabled, people without cars and teenagers are disadvantaged as their only option is to walk to the Tawny Owl, wait at an unsheltered, nondemarcated spot and catch the Stagecoach number 24 from Grantham. Or you can stay at home from 12.30 on a Friday until 10.30 on a Monday morning which doesn’t actually make for social inclusion.
At the request of Fernwood people, now Travel Wright and Notts County Council have come together to trial a single, new 341 service on Saturdays to establish popularity. It will also travel around the Manners Road Estate to support residents living there.
There is no extra cost to the taxpayer as services have been reorganised to accommodate this service within the existing budget.
We are looking to recruit Fernwood villagers to catch the first bus and we anticipate quite a crowd judging by FB responses so far. I’m definitely on the bus and we would love the Newark Advertiser Will Radio Newark join us to help us launch what is a really good news story for Fernwood and hopefully the beginning of a brighter future for our public services to and from Newark!
