A team of drivers and workshop staff from Marshalls Coaches of Sutton on Trent are taking on a sponsored cycle ride in aid of two local hospice charities.

The event is the brainchild of one of their drivers whose parents were both cared for by Beaumond House Hospice in Newark in recent years. When the idea of doing a charity ride from Newark to Skegness and back, a distance of around 120 miles, was mentioned some of the workshop staff decided to join the cause. This includes one of the company Directors, who decided to take part providing the proceeds could be split between Beaumond House and the John Eastwood Hospice in Sutton in Ashfield, where the wife of the Operations Manager was being cared for and has recently passed away.

A group of around eight riders is now assembled, mainly from Marshalls staff but including some from a local cycling group to undertake the challenge. Local business Newark Cycles Ltd has offered support in the form of supplies for the trip, another, BRJ Fabrications, has offered to provide a memento trophy for all Marshalls staff who complete the trip and uniform provider Pride & Joy clothing are sponsoring cycling jerseys.

Support on the day will be provided by Marshalls with a support car, manned by workshop staff, and a coach for family members to meet those completing the challenge in Skegness as they arrive, and to wave them off on their return journey, proceeds from coach fares will be donated wholly to the charities.

The ride will take place on Sunday 1st August and donations can be made to either charity via Just Giving at: https://www.justgiving.com/team/teammarshallscoache
