All Clear To Open - Grove Leisure Centre Fire Update

Update on the clear up and local schools

Nottinghamshire County Council have issued an update following the devastating fire at the former Grove Leisure Centre on Friday night.

"Working with our contractors we aim to have all significant fallen debris cleared by the end of today (Sunday) following the fire at the former Grove Leisure Centre. This includes removing any debris from nearby streets, properties and gardens.

Residents are advised that it is alright to wash or hose any ash that may have settled on their property and we would like to reassure residents that we are doing all we can to bring forward the demolition of the building which will be in line with the approved safety management procedures"

Nottinghamshire County Council have confirmed that Newark Orchard School and Balderton Day Centre have been given the all clear to open tomorrow (Monday) as normal.

Newark Academy have confirmed they are closed on Monday and a decision is to be made about Tuesday

If residents have any queries they should contact Paul McKay of Nottinghamshire County Council's Risk Safety Emergency Management Board on 07983 541572
