Newark Police are appealing for witnesses and information after two men armed with a hammer and spanner attacked a marked police car in Newark on Sunday night (15th December 2019)

The offenders got out of their vehicle after pulling up alongside the stationary police car on London Road just after 10.30pm and smashed the windscreen causing damage to the driver’s door window and wing mirror before getting back into their vehicle and driving off.

Fortunately no-one was hurt during the incident.

Detective Sergeant Andrew Hall, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Our enquiries are ongoing and we’re appealing for anyone who saw what happened or who has any other information which could help us with our investigation to get in touch with us.

“We’re also appealing for any drivers who may have recorded dash-cam footage of the incident to get in touch by calling Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 830 of 15 December 2019, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
