Appeal for witnesses after attack in Balderton

Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a 70-year-old woman was attacked during a burglary at her home in Balderton.

The woman was in her bedroom when she was confronted by four men who had broken into her home in Grove Street.

One of the men hit her over the head causing bleeding.

After the burglars left her bedroom she managed to bolt the door from the inside and scream for help from her window. The men then fled the property.

The incident happened just after 11pm yesterday, Monday 11th June 2018.

Detective Sergeant Ricky Ellis said: "Thankfully the woman only suffered superficial injuries but she was left very shaken up and distressed by this appalling incident.

"Incidents of this nature are incredibly rare and we’d like to reassure the community that we are working hard to find the individuals responsible and bring them to justice.

"We’re appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information that could help us in our investigation to get in touch. Were you in the street around the relevant time? Did you hear or see anything?

"We’d also like to hear from anyone who may have parked their vehicle in the area around the relevant time and anyone who has any dash cam footage of the incident.

"Please call us on 101, quoting incident number 1017 of 11th June, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
