Coronation Street Star to take Centre Stage in Newark Panto

Actor Nick Cochrane, who will be playing a starring role in Newark Palace Theatre's production of 'Sleeping Beauty'.

Actor Nick Cochrane, appeared in the soap for twenty years and will joining the cast of Sleeping Beauty this Christmas as King Hugo.

Nick has played the recurring role of Andy McDonald in Coronation Street for two decades and is delighted to swap the cobblestones of Weatherfield for the Newark stage this Christmas, “I love pantomime as it is great to perform in front of live audiences. Television is wonderful but performing in front of a camera just is not the same or as rewarding the instant reaction you received from the live audience in theatre. Pantomime is also one of the best ways of getting the kids to visit a theatre for the first time."

Sleeping Beauty will be the actor's first visit to Newark and he is currently playing Ginger Slater in a tour of Catherine Cookson's The Cinder Path as well as shooting a new TV show.

Carys Coulton-Jones, Business Manager at the Palace Theatre said, ‘I am delighted that Nick is joining our cast this year for Sleeping Beauty.  It will be great to see such a familiar face move from the cobbles of Weatherfield to our stage at the Palace Theatre and we hope everyone will be excited to see him perform as King Hugo this Christmas.’

The pantomime at Newark Palace Theatre will run from Tuesday 10 December 2019 – Saturday 4 January 2020.
