District Council launches campaign to celebrate Newark and Sherwood’s Christmas offer

Newark and Sherwood District Council has launched a new campaign to celebrate everything Newark and Sherwood has to offer this festive season.

The campaign aims to spread Christmas cheer and entice visitors from Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and further afield who are after a unique Christmas experience.

Several festive themes will be explored, including food and drink, Christmas markets and events, and wintery walks in and around the area.

In addition, a dedicated Christmas page has been created on the Visit Newark and Sherwood website, including information on local events and signposting visitors to information on places to visit, eat and stay.

This Christmas campaign will tie into other successful promotional activities Newark and Sherwood District Council has delivered in 2021. These have included the #doorstopdaysout and Staycation campaigns, which have provided support to the district’s multiple visitor attractions and local businesses as the tourism and hospitality sector entered a period of recovery following the COVID-19 lockdown closures.

Promotional activities have focused on attracting a regional and wider audience who have foregone a holiday abroad to explore the UK, highlighting the unique character, experience of English history and fantastic outdoor offer Newark and Sherwood boasts.

Councillor David Lloyd, Leader of Newark and Sherwood District Council, said: “Newark and Sherwood has such a fantastic festive offer including brilliant markets, events, independent retailers, hospitality businesses and accommodation providers. It really is a destination for families and couples alike this festive season.

“It has not gone unnoticed how hard the last two years have been for the tourism industry and how well they have persevered. The District Council is fully committed to supporting our tourism businesses and attractions throughout this period of recovery, especially during what is one of the busiest times of the year.”

The campaign is being delivered through the tourism brand of Newark and Sherwood District Council, Visit Newark and Sherwood, and is part of the District Council’s Visitor Economy Strategy.
