Wet weather but bright spirits

What an absolutely fantastic start to Newark's Tour of Britain stage 4 celebrations!

The wheels on the bike go round and round.....

Newark and Sherwood District Council and Newark Town Council provided us with a fun family event in Newark market place with live music from Bobby Haines, Flipside party band and Big Stuff soul band, a fantastic craft market showcasing many of our local talents and the impressive Go Ride cycling race around the town centre.

The under 10 winner was Dillon Preece, (pictured below right) with Aaron Cocker in 2nd place (pictured centre).  Under 12 winner was Flo Lissaman and winner of the under 16s race was Luke Moore.  Huge congratulations to everyone who took part in this unique experience cycling along the cobbles.

Owner of The Bean & Vine Jane Carling told Radio Newark 'It has been a great evening, the atomsphere has been amazing, our customers have loved it and have been appreciative that we have stayed open late giving them the option to purchase food and drink whilst watching entertainment.

The whole event has been well recieved well and it would be great to see the event return next year and be further supported by local businesses and the community as a whole'

It was a pleasure for Radio Newark to be a part of the evening.  You can find all of our interviews, photos and videos on our Facebook and Twitter pages.
