Free event for businesses to learn about global innovation and procurement

A new free event for businesses to learn about procurement and encouraging them to think globally will take place on Thursday 14 April 2022 at the Everyday Champions Centre, Newark.

In partnership with AJB Business and Marketing Consultant and Welland Procurement, Newark and Sherwood District Council is hosting ‘Global Innovation and Nimble Thinking’, aimed at Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire businesses.

The event is for any business looking for inspiration and encouragement on how to catapult their business into the global market and learn about the procurement process in the public sector and how to create an effective tender.

The event is split into two sessions. In the morning, attendees will hear from James Batham, a senior global lawyer and retail expert, on how the global industry ticks and how to create clear and concise objectives that they can use in their business, which will be followed by a question and answer session.

In the afternoon, attendees will hear from Paul Large, Senior Procurement Officer at Welland Procurement, on supplying to the public sector. Business and Marketing Consultant Amanda Batham and Sarah Harling will also deliver a session on what a tender should look like and how a business should communicate with its target audience.

There will also be the opportunity to take part in one of two breakout groups:

  1. Business mapping for small businesses – how to solve your problems and create a new business plan (delivered by AJB Consulting Services)
  2. How to develop great communications (delivered by Sarah Harling

In addition, there will be allocated time for attendees to network throughout the day and lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Councillor Keith Girling, Chairman of Newark and Sherwood District Council’s Economic Development Committee, said: “It’s an important time for businesses to diversify and increase their skills, this includes understanding the procurement process and how they can maximise their opportunities and learn about the global business industry.

“We remain committed to supporting our local businesses and are excited to announce the Global Innovation and Nimble Thinking event.

“With our partners, AJB Business and Marketing Consultant and Welland Procurement, businesses will receive invaluable information that they can use to grow and thrive.

“Anyone interested in attending the event can book their place by getting in touch with us as soon as possible.”

Attendees can register for either the morning or afternoon session or the whole day.
