Newark & Sherwood YMCA Skatepark consultation and taster day

YMCA Newark & Sherwood are to hold a public consultation ahead of the planned skatepark development on Saturday March 30th 2019

YMCA Newark and Sherwood will be hosting a public consultation at Magnus Community Sports Centre on Saturday 30th March 2019 for the Skatepark development they have plans for.

The aim of the event is to gain opinions and views from the local public as well as to give the community a better idea about the development as a whole. At the event there will be a beginners session where beginner skaters have the chance to have a taster of skateboarding which will all be led by coaches from Skate Nottingham. There will also be an opportunity for experienced skaters to have an open jam before a presentation and Q&A session.

The event is free of charge and attendees can choose to attend both the taster session and the consultation or just the consultation section. For those that wish to take part in the beginners taster session, it is essential to reserve a ticket on from Eventbrite

As a new charity to the Newark area, the YMCA have the communities' best interests at heart and so are really keen to get as many people attending the event as possible. By doing this they can gain a great understanding of what the people of Newark and Sherwood would like to see in their community, and what they can do/change in order to accommodate for any wants or needs they may have.

As a part of the YMCA Newark and Sherwood Community and Activity Village project, they already have 3G Pitches and the Athletics Track open for public use with the development of the Skatepark coming soon in the next phase. They also have plans for a cycle track, tennis courts and MUGAs, as well as arts and creative spaces inside of their main building in the final phase of development, which will include digital studio facilities and a climbing wall. With this, similar consultation events will be taking place as plans progress.
