Police appeal after vehicle failed to stop following altercation

Nottinghamshire Police are appealing for witnesses after a vehicle failed to stop in Newark following an altercation which left two men injured.

The appeal on the Nottinghamshire Police website says:

“Detectives are investigating after a vehicle failed to stop for officers in Newark yesterday following a report of an altercation involving five men.

Officers were called to a report of a street fight in the Trinity Road area of Newark at around 5pm yesterday (Tuesday 18 August) and two men were injured.

On attendance officers sighted a vehicle suspected to have been involved. It failed to stop and was found a short distance away in Tolney Lane where offenders then fled.

The vehicle along with a knife was recovered.

Detective Sergeant Jamie Moore said: "My team has been working around the clock on this job and we are making substantial leads.

"We believe this was an isolated incident where the offenders are known to each other with no threat to the wider public.

“We'd be keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened or anything suspicious in the area."

If you do have any information that could help, please call us on 101 quoting incident 554 of 18 August.
