It comes into force 1am on Wednesday 24th June as temperatures could reach 40 degrees celcius.
HEAT HEALTH ALERT OF THE HIGHEST LEVEL ISSUED FOR NOTTINGHAMSHIRE
A Red Heat-Health Alert has been issued for Nottinghamshire ahead of this week’s heatwave.
Temperatures are expected to reach around 34°C in Newark today, with even higher temperatures possible later in the week.
The alert is the highest level issued by the UK Health Security Agency and is in place due to the potential impact of extreme heat on health and wellbeing.
If you’re spending time outdoors, remember to:
- Drink plenty of water
- Use sunscreen
- Wear suitable clothing and seek shade where possible
- Check in on elderly relatives, neighbours and anyone who may be vulnerable to the heat
