Weekly COVID-19 update shows new cases in Newark

Nottinghamshire County Council have released their weekly COVID-19 figures for Newark and Sherwood, showing a total of 420 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Newark since data collection began on February 21, 2020.

This shows a significant rise since last weeks figures, shared on August 9, 2020, that shared a total of 389 cases had been confirmed in Newark and Sherwood since the pandemic began.

The Nottinghamshire County Council website display this information in their weekly report, which is titled: 'Weekly COVID-19 Surveillance Report in Nottinghamshire.' This report shows the total figures of the virus throughout the whole pandemic, which could explain confusion and panic as some locals discussed a 400 figure rise in the confirmed cases of COVID-19 for this week alone.

Whilst 420 cases of the virus have been confirmed in Newark and Sherwood since February 21, 2020, these are not new cases that have been confirmed in the past week.

It is still very important to wear a face covering when inside public spaces and respect social distancing guidelines, as Newark has been placed on the Government's watchlist after becoming an area of concern due to a rise in confirmed cases of the virus.

If you are showing any symptoms of the virus, it's important that you self-isolate to protect your friends and family.
