Grove Squash Club
In division 2 of the Nottinghamshire Squash Leagues the Grove first team finished comfortable in mid table despite losing their last two matches. These came by the way of a very strong Sutton team 5-0 who finished runners-up in the table and a narrow 3-2 defeat against Grantham. In the individual rankings for the season captain Chris Gibbons finished a very creditable 5th losing only 2 matches and Richard Speed finished 8th playing over half of them at number 1 string.
In division 3 the second team's relegation fate was sealed when they lost their final three matches to finish bottom of division 3. These came against Grantham thirds 5-0, Southwell thirds 4-1 with Andrew Appleby pick up the only win and a narrow 3-2 home defeat to Rushcliffe 2 with Paul Burrell and Paul Drury winning their respective matches. They look like starting next season off in division 4 subject to league ratification. In the individual standings Paul Burrell was the highest ranked player followed by Craig Drury.
In division 1 of the Lincoln League two successive victories have put the team back into second place. The results came against Eastgate "C" 3-2 with Steve Brown, Paul Burrell and Paul Drury winning their matches and David Lloyd 4-1 with Wayne Hiatt, Steve Brown and Craig & Paul Drury securing the points. With 3 matches remaining the runners-up spot is certainly back on the cards. Steve Browns two impressive wins have seen him move up to 6th in the individual rankings.
