The pocket rocket gets a bronze

Amelia picks up second bronze of the year

Amelia Chrispin represented Worksop College and Bassetlaw District in the Nottinghamashire Schools County XC Championships today. Each district within Nottinghamshire had previously held their own respective championships and sent their qualifying runners to Wollaton Park compete against the rest of the county .

As the whistle went Amelia did not get the best of starts, as she was held up a bit in the large field, and two of her nearest competitors burst ahead leaving her trailing by quite a bit, very early on in the race.

Amelia worked well and managed to catch them after around 1800m. The three of them running together, well clear of the rest of the field with 700m to go, would contest the top 3 places.

All three started to increase their pace as the finish line approached with the other two finding that extra bit of energy to pull away. Amelia finished in 3rd place bagging a brilliant bronze medal, her 2nd county bronze this year. This means she will now be part of the Nottinghamshire team in the National Schools XC finals at Prestwold in March.
