Our Pocket Rocket at the County Championships
Amelia Chrispin raced for Newark at the Notts Counties Athletics. She was racing in the 1500m and was in her first year of the U15 age group. Thanks to dad Neil for this report;
After 800m Amelia and two other Athletes broke away from the rest of the field and for the next 500m the lead changed hands numerous times between them. Amelia entered the last 200m with a very slender lead along with 1 other girl, pulling away from the 3 placed girl. They both sprinted hard in the last 100m, with Amelia being pipped into into silver medal position by just 1 second. A great race.
She was ecstatic to find out during the presentation, that she had broken her pre season target of sub 5mins with a new PB of 4min 59sec.
