A busy weekend started at Derby

On Saturday due to the club hosting the mini league cross country the following day it was a small band of cross country enthusiast who travelled to Derby to contest the first round of the North Midlands cross country league and they produced some excellent results with three individual 3rdplaces.

In the first race of the afternoon Joseph Monk finished 3rd just 2 secs behind the winner and in the last race of the afternoon Amelia Chrispin also finished 3rd. In between in the u17w race Tilly Owens just got the better of twin sister Lauren finishing 20th and 21st. The ladies team finished 4th on the day with Becky Gallop in 3rd in a good quality field with 186 finishers she was ably backed up by Chloe Hubbard in 9th and u20 Amber Owens in 33rd

There were some strong early season runs from the mens team who finished 21st team led home by u20 Thomas Hubbard in 88th followed by Craig Renton 92nd, Tim Bagguley 109th, Gareth Owens 157th and Rob Orgill 254th

The following day at the Notts mini league organized by Newark at the Newark Academy playing fields the club had an amazing turnout with 21 young stars of the future taking part for many of them it was their first taste of cross country running.
In the under 11 girls race, we had 7 competitors finishing as follows, Rebecca Sanderburg 10th, Isobel Campbell 12th, Zoe Smith 15th, Anna Clarke 18th, Jasmine Braithwaite 19th, Harriet Monaghan 36th and Lily Walls 38th.

Then for under 11 boys, we saw Joseph Monk finishing in 3rd place a great result following his previous day at Derby, followed in by Joshua Clee in 17th, James Tall 21st, Evan Rogers 32nd, Thomas Moore 44th and Archie Thomas 47th. 

The under 13 girls race saw Newark represented by Niamh Monaghan finishing in 11th place followed by Beth Wynn-Jones 19th and Maise Bex 40th.

In the under 13 boys  Ben Mason finished in 26th place.

Finally we had 3 girls in the under 15 event with Catherine Booth leading the way in 8th place, followed by Alice Gibbs and Ellie Monaghan finishing 12th and 13th respectively.
