Flood Warning issued for the town

The River Trent continues to rise

A Flood Alert has been issued by the Environment Agency for properties and roads along the River Trent.

It follows as Storm Dennis delivered persistent heavy rain fall over the weekend across the UK.

The warning has been issued for Monday morning for Tolney Lane, The Sugarbeet Factory, Kelham Lane, Kelham Bridge, Wyke Lane, Dorner Ave and Marsh Lane in Farndon.  Further light rain is expected over the next 24 hours and river levels to rise into Tuesday.

Residents of Tolney Lane, Newark have been asked if they could make alternative arrangements to temporarily relocate as the River Trent continues to rise.

  • Ollerton and Edwinstowe are also at risk as the River Maun levels are high but are beginning to fall.
  • A Flood Warning remains in place for Aslockton and Whatton and levels rise on the River Smite.
  • On Sunday over 60 properties had to be evacuated in Lowdham due to the flooding. River levels are reducing but the risk of flooding remains.

Newark & Sherwood District Council, Nottinghamshire Police, the Environment Agency  and associated partner agencies are working together around the clock and monitoring the situation.

Road closures

Currently the A52 Eastbound is closed between Bingham and Grantham due to flooding.

Kelham Bridge has been closed due to unsafe conditions

Driver's are reminded to take care and not to risk their safety by driving through floodwater.
