Magnus Church of England Academy celebrates GCE A2/AS results

Students at Magnus were ecstatic with their results.

Uninterrupted trend continues, as year on year, Magnus continues to improve results.

There were celebrations today as Magnus Church of England Academy announced another year of improved results with well over 84% of the total entries at A*-C and an increase in students achieving the top grades, with more than 44% of entries grades A*-A.

This continues an uninterrupted trend of improvement taking place at Magnus under the leadership of Principal Anna Martin, resulting in their Good Ofsted result earlier this year.

Their latest GCE A2/AS level success has seen 44% of students achieve A*-B outcomes at A Level only, with Vocational subjects achieving over 76% D*-D.

There were some outstanding individual performances too, including Jola Maciejewska who achieved A, A, B, *Distinction, *Distinction in Psychology, Sociology, Biology and Health and Social Care and who now says she will study Psychology at Loughborough University.

Another student, Rosie Ward, achieved A, A, C in Psychology, Sociology and Biology, whilst student Monika Zon, achieved A* and A in Religious Studies and Psychology.

Other notable achievements were Demi-Leigh Haywood achieving *Distinction and *Distinction in Health and social care and child care qualifications with Chloe Andrew achieving B, C, *Distinction in Psychology, Sociology and Child Care.

Rebecca Barber, Senior Leader for Post 16 at Magnus Church of England Academy said, “I am incredibly proud of another amazing cohort of students who have focused and worked hard throughout their time in Sixth Form to achieve their personal best.

I am always incredibly thankful for the supportive staff who go above and beyond for our students both in and out of the classroom to ensure our young people progress to their chosen destination.”

Anna Martin, Principal at Magnus Academy said “Once again I am delighted with these results as they reflect the hard work and dedication put in by staff and students alike. It is encouraging to see our results improving year on year, with an ever increasing sixth form cohort.

These results, along with the ‘Good’ Ofsted rating for our sixth form, support what we know about our school, that it is a great place to learn and to work.

I am mostly delighted that the community of Newark can have confidence in us and the education we provide for their young people. I am pleased that so many are now choosing to send their children to school in the town and look forward to welcoming the biggest sixth form cohort to date to Magnus in September.”

Chris Moodie is the Chief Executive Officer of Diocese of Southwell & Nottingham Multi-Academy Trust (SNMAT) and he said “I am very proud of the outcomes this year at Magnus Church of England Academy. Staff and students have worked exceptionally hard together to achieve these results. It is, however, more than just a sheet of paper that defines an education. We are delighted that Ofsted have recognised that the whole curriculum is important. Magnus Academy has known this for many years, and this means that the quality of education enjoyed by all students is very high.”
