Were you the lady that helped?

Nottinghamshire Police have arrested a man in connection with an attempted knife-point robbery at the Spar Garage, Newark on Thursday 5th December

The man entered the store on Farndon road around 6pm and threatened a shop worker with a knife and demanded cash from the till.

He left the store empty-handed and ran off. The shop worker suffered a minor scratch to his arm during the incident.

Officers swiftly arrived at the scene and searched the area.

A woman directed officers towards a potential suspect. Minutes later police arrested an 18-year-old man on suspicion of robbery. He remains in custody.

Detective Sergeant Rick Ellis, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "We want to thank the woman who passed on information to our officers before she got on a bus”

"We'd like to get her details and we're appealing for her to come forward and to call us on 101, quoting incident number 720 of 5 December 2019”

"We'd also like to hear from anyone else who saw what happened or who has any information which could help us with our enquiries."
