Radio Newark to host ‘Big Thank You’ for Key Workers at Newark Hospital

Radio Newark are partnering with local businesses to show appreciation to the NHS workers on the frontline during the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Thursday April 23 at 12.30pm, Radio Newark will be closely following social distancing guidelines as they visit Newark Hospital with goodies for the vital workers, that have been kindly donated by local businesses. 

 

Bex Davison, from Davison’s Bakery on Appleton Gate, Newark, shared that her own 12 years of experience in the emergency services has made her feel compassion towards our Hospital’s staff.

 

She said: “It has been wonderful and heart-warming seeing everyone pull together at such a difficult time to support each other. They are putting their health and lives on the line to care for those struck down with this illness and it is important to say thank you to them. 

 

“We are fortunate to be in a position to provide them with a little ‘pick me up’ treat to boost morale and keep them going through the tough times.”

Davison’s Bakery, of Appleton Gate, have kindly donated delicious baked treats to help raise the spirits of our NHS staff.

Simply Sweet, of Carter Gate, have graciously donated a selection sweet treat bags.

The Turquoise Teapot, of Bowbridge Road, are supplying the staff with free tea and coffee vouchers.

Catherine Carter Aesthetics and Beauty, on Millgate, have donated £20 vouchers for beauty treatments.

The Loft – Coffee Lounge & Eatery, on Church Street, have kindly donated £20 vouchers.

F Doncaster Family Butchers have provided BBQ meat pack vouchers.

Ann et Vin, Castle Gate, have donated mini bottles of Prosecco.

Ragazza, of Middle Gate, have donated a lovely selection of socks.

Meander & Mooch, on Carter Gate, have kindly supplied greetings cards.

Inizio, on Stodman Street, have supplied a selection of travel size Tigi products.

Petit Versailles, of Stodman Street, is offering free alterations and working on scrubs and wash bags made from material donated from local businesses.

Guthrie Therapy has offered a two hour team wellbeing session; looking at self-care, trauma, relaxation and other psychological subjects people wish to discuss.

Shirt Sleeves, on Middle Gate, have provided a selection of bright bags for life.

Sam Harding's Fruit & Veg, on Newark Market, have provided a selection fresh fruit and vegetables.

Turner's Quality Bakers, on Newark Market, have supplied freshly baked loaves.

Happy Sundaes, on Church Street, have provided vouchers.

Morrisons have donated sandwiches and sausage rolls and Waitrose have supplied fruit, water, biscuits and toiletries.

Waitrose have supplied Newark Hospital with fresh fruit, biscuits, bottles of water and a selection of toiletries.

 

Andrea Ward, from Simply Sweet, shared her appreciation for our Key Workers selflessness during the pandemic. 

 

She said: “We’re living in very uncertain times, there is a lot of anxiety and fear but one thing that is absolutely certain is the appreciation for those key workers that are risking their own health to ensure the safety of others.

 

“We wanted to spread a little happiness, everybody loves sweets so why not show our gratitude by sharing our sweets with the NHS staff at Newark Hospital.”
