A long trip for the Jags

Defeat in Carlisle

Today saw a still depleted Jags 1 take on CWSC Panthers. We went to Carlisle with 4 members of Jags 1 and 2 from Jags 2 (thanks Toby and Luke) and had very little hope of pulling out a win. We were welcomed warmly and let into the hall. The floor seemed to suck the bounce out of the ball and was a little harder to push on than home. The match started and from the off it was a fairly hard game, but Jags put on a great show against overwhelming odds. Panthers kept changing the whole team every 5 minutes to keep them fresh while we only had 1 substitute - so we were always playing a fresh team. They played a tad dirty on occasion and had one player barred from the hall, a few technical and team fouls and had several players on 4 fouls but we never lost it and kept our cool. Even with their supporters trying to get under our skins. At the final whistle the score was 38-73 which was much better than we had any right to expect - especially as they beat Titans by 15 points. Our team can hold their heads high and smile from today's efforts. Yes we lost (but less than expected), but we played fair and never gave in even scoring points in the last 2 minutes. I  am proud to play with my teammates- especially Angus the Legend.
