Barnby Road take the honours
It was a fantastic event with 8 extremely good teams from across Newark & District. The running events were very close with a number of teams putting in strong performances. In the field events some big points were won by Barnby Road to allow them to come out on top overall. The event was extremely well organised and the staff and sports leaders at Newark Academy did a fantastic job. Barnby Road will now progress to the county finals later on this term as the Newark & District area representatives. The entire afternoon was a great advert for the strength in sports we have across this district.
Barnby Road Academy headmaster Steven Chamberlain told Radio Newark;
"The children really lifted their game for the District finals and I think we benefitted from our strength in the field events. We were very surprised to win overall but delighted we did as this rewarded all the hard work the children had put in during practice. We look forward to the county finals."
