Adam's report on a great day,

Wings For Life 2017
What an amazing event the Wings for Life World Run is a global charity event with a unique, and uniquely fun, format. Thanks Red Bull for the support and drinks. Taking part in 24 different countries at the same time. I was taking put in the UK Cambridge, 😊 had 2 main goal for yesterday, first to make it to marathon distance as part of my 300 Mara/Ultra's (yesterday 298) second goal was to see if I could get to 50km (last year 43km) to start the day off I finish work at 12:30am so was happy to get 5 hour sleep before driving to Cambridge where I join Godmanchester Runner Club as put of the team for the day (thank you) so great to catch up with Abi before the start. I had a plan from the start and would go for about 5.30/5.45 pace a mile as that my marathon pace this last month. After the 1st mile I caught up with the lead bikes and it was great to catch up with them again as it was the same people. The course wasn't too bad with a few little rough bits and heavy headwind at times. As I was running I make sure I enjoyed it by giving people high-fives and talking away to the people on the bike. It was never my intention at all to be leading the global race, I was just going at my marathon pace, I remember getting between 20/21 miles starting to feel a bit lightheaded and tired. I put that down to lack of sleep but then I switched back on and it disappeared. I was well happy when I got to the marathon distance and i did feel my pace dropped but I was heading onto my next goal 50km. My best 50km was 3:34:37 so to do it in 3:12:57 (that time would have been ranked 5th in RunBritain 2016) I was definitely very happy!! Wasn't long after that about 52km I could see the next person who then passed me and I said goodbye to my friends on the bike and well done to him as he passed. I know my pace had dropped quite a bit and I wasn't bothered because I'd hit the goal I wanted too. After that it was just keep going until the car caught up to me. If I wasn't tired and maybe in a better mindset I think I could've pushed on over 60km. But yesterday's event was a real eye-opener of what I could be doing and that I've still got a lot of potential. After finishing I head back to Newark for work again.

UK finishing 5th in a distance of 58.76km

Thank you to everyone for your support and a massive well done to everyone that ran for those who couldn't. So what I can do next year!
