Two wheel action

With the Road Season now well under way and the Mountain Bike Season kicking off last weekend, saw local riders competing after the Winter lay-off

On Saturday, Isabel Darvill racing for Team Vision Innovative Leisure competed in Round 3 of The Milton Keynes Bowl March Criterium Series but crashed on the second to last lap ending up in Hospital for her injuries.  But Bike Racers are made of harder stuff and she competed on Sunday in the Ipswich Bicycle Club Spring Scramble Women`s Race on the Gosbeck Circuit near Ipswich, Suffolk and finished with a Top 20 Finish after missing the breakaway because of damaged bike from the day before.
On Sunday several local riders competed in the Opening Round of The Midlands Mountain Bike Cross Country Series held at Sherwood Pines, Nr Edwinstowe and promoted by Sherwood Pines Cycles.  Dave Fletcher racing for the Sherwood Pines/Felt Bikes/Enve Professional Team won the Men`s Elite Race.
Vanessa Holes from Bilsthorpe and racing for Arrow Cycles of Lincoln finished on the podium in 3rd place in the Women`s Elite Race (See attached photos) after a very strong ride.
James Storr (Newark Castle CC) was placed 21st in the Open Men`s Race.
In the Under 8 Boys Race Louis Inman and Jet Du Toit both racing for the Bolsover & District Cycling Club finished 3rd & 5th respectively
Lottie Lissaman (Newark Castle CC) was 2nd in the Under 8 Girl`s Race
In the Under 10 Boys Race Jude Du Toit racing for Bolsover & District CC was 2nd with Charles Hoyle (Newark Castle CC) 11th
In the Under 12 Boys Race Noah Inman racing for Bolsover & District CC was placed 11th with Flo Lissaman (Newark Castle CC) placed 3rd in the Under 12 Girls Race.  Great opening Event held in very windy conditions at Sherwood Pines.
