Amelia Chrispin

Sunny Sunday Success in York

Amelia competed at a sunny York in the York Junior Triathlon on Sunday. This was not only part of the Regional race series but was also being used as one of the best of five IRC National qualifiers.

As the swim was in the pool it was a staged, mixed gender start. Amelia was in the first swim heat with 15 other boys and girls and left the 300m swim in 3rd position. She quickly picked up her bike and started the 8km bike leg as first girl. As she entered transition for the last time she was still leading girl and going well. The 2.6km run went really well for Amelia, and she extended her lead over the next closest girl in her heat crossing the line in an impressive 31min 31 seconds. She now had to wait for the other 4 heats to finish to know her final position. Shortly after the last heat finished she was ecstatic to find out she had won the girls race by over a minute and had come fourth overall out of all the boys and girls.

Her 1st place not only means that she has won the TS3 girls Yorkshire Junior Triathlon Series, but has qualified to take on the best in the UK at the National IRC's at the beginning of September.
