Today (Saturday 25th) Amelia made the relevantly short journey to sunny Prestwold Hall to compete for Nottinghamshire in the National Schools Yr 7 XC Championships. She had qualified to compete for the Nottinghamshire team because of her performance in the Schools County XC back in February.
As the gun went off for the start of the race Amelia, along with huge talented field of runners from all over the country, sprinted towards the first corner of the course all vying for position. Amelia had a steady start and was lying in about 60th position after the excitement of the highly competitive start.
Amelia settled well and was running fluidly, slowly moving through the field and after the first short lap was a great 25th. She was still looking strong as she pushed the pace and passed more runners as she entered the final stages on the race. She crossed the line as the 1st Nottinghamshire runner and a fantastic 11th Nationally. A strong finish to the 2016/17 XC Season.
