Amy Hunt update

U.K.'s number one sprinter

Amy Hunt raced for Charnwood AC (her new club) in the Youth Development League (YDL) over at Coventry on April 30th. Very cold and windy day, not a day for good times. Amy raced the 100m, 200m, 4x100m and due to last minute injury to another athlete 4x300m! She won the 100m and 200m convincingly and the team won both relays. A chance to blow the cobwebs away.

This last Sunday saw us in Newham. London, where Amy was entered into the 100m only. At this meeting the heats are run with fastest going first and the fastest 8 then run in a final.

Amy was in the second heat of the day and won it convincingly in 11.65s which although beats her pb (of 11.96s) was wind assisted so doesn’t count as a pb. The time was fast enough to make the final. In the final Amy was up against a good mixture of Senior GB athletes and GB Juniors. Amy started strongly but over extended in her first few strides and her leg nearly gave way which left her in 7th after 5 metres. The next 95 metres she ran a superb race and stormed through to take second place in 11.53s (unfortunately the wind was still too strong for a pb). A great run that surprised a few of the older athletes who had not raced Amy before.

Amy is next racing in the Loughborough International Meeting on May21st where she will take part in one of the 100m guest races.
