Amy smashes her own PB

Amy Hunt

Amy was invited to run in one of the guest 100m races at the prestigious Loughborough International meeting.

This is a meeting where teams from England, Wales, Scotland, GB Juniors, BUCs and Loughborough students race
against each other and includes a good mixture of senior GB athletes such as Asha Philip and Richard Kilty.

The season so far has been a real mix up to this point with either a strong wind in front or behind making fast legal

times hard to come by. Amy has already run some very fast times but these were with a strong following wind
which ensured they do not count in the UK rankings.

On Sunday, finally, the sun shone and the wind was not too strong. Amy was in a very fast race with the majority of

girls having already represented their countries or captured National titles.

After a false start by lane 4 it was assured the athletes would play it safe. On the restart Amy got out of the blocks

reasonably well and for most of the race was in the mix eventually finishing 4th in a massive new pb of 11.66 seconds.

Amy was by far the youngest in the race at 15 years old, but didn't look out of place. She was really happy with how

the race went and especially the time which will see her move to the top of the under 17 women 100m UK rankings.

Amy's next race will be in the open meeting at Newham in London on bank holiday Monday.
