Another first for Amelia

The Pocket Rocket marches on

Last Wednesday,

Amelia donned her wetsuit for the first time this season and took part in the 1st race of the Delta Simmonds Aquathlon Series. The race was mixed gender mass start, for 10-16 year-old boys and girls. The swim was a 200m open water swim followed by a 2km run. Amelia had a good swim and left the water in 2nd position. Some of the athletes had decided not to wear a wetsuit and this meant Amelia. after removing hers, left for the run in 7th position.  She quickly got into her stride and had a good run passing all her competitors, crossing the line in 1st place overall.

On Sunday

She travelled to The Edge in a very sunny Leeds, as Amelia was competing in the LBT Aquathlon. This race was part of the Yorkshire Triathlon Series and Amelia is in her 1st year of the Tristart 3 age group.

Amelia was in a heat with 15 other girls and left transition, after the 400m swim, in 8th position. The run was a 5 lap, hilly, 3km and at the start of the final lap Amelia had managed to move into 3rd place and was running well with another athlete. As she entered the final 300m she pushed on and managed to leave the other girl, to cross the line in a fantastic 2nd place with an impressive time of 17.27.
