Friday night started off a great weekend for Newark AC members Becky Taylor finished 3rd lady and 2nd in the Nottinghamshire championships at the Notts 10mile road race with a time of 63 min 47sec and Lee Braithwaite completed the course in 67min 51 secs.

On Saturday Anna Smith 1500m and Tom Evans 400m who are both u17 were asked by England Athletics selectors to compete in the U20 championships at Bedford for consideration for the Commonwealth Youth championships to be held in the Bahamas. Anna already had the qualifying time and in a tactical race finished 4th given the same time 4min 23.11 secs as third and Tom ran 48.81 finishing 2nd in his heat and then on Sunday finished 4th in the final in a games qualifying time and new all time club record of 47.9sec which puts him 12th on the all time u17 UK list. The athletes in front of them were all u20s so they did what was asked of them by being first u17s and now await to see if they have been selected.

Linton Taylor competing at Bedford in the u23 championships gained a bronze medal in the 5000m championships in 14min 44.22 secs.

Luke Sayer represented Notts schools at the Mason Trophy in Birmingham running the inter boys 400m in 56.87 secs and Ben Smith finished 5th in the junior boys 1500m 4min 24.12 secs.

On Sunday in blisteringly hot conditions a group of Newark AC members competed for Lincolnshire schools at the Anglian schools championships. A new pb and Gold for Katie Mackintosh inter girls 300mhurdles 46.2sec and Silver in 80m hurdles. Gold for Lauren Owens in inter girls PV a new pb and outright club record of 2.80m. Bronze for Tilly Owens in inter girls 300m hurdles. Silver for George Bacon in inter boys hammer. Maisie Archer Dytch inter girls 200m pb 26.9sec. Amber Owens 2nd in senior girls Steeplechase, Tilly and Lauren Owens 4th and 5th in inter girls Steeplechase. Maisie Archer Dytch also ran a great 1st leg in the inter girls 100m relay.

Yet another club member has ventured into the world of triathlon with Chloe Hubbard competing in the Woodhall Spa sprint tri 400m pool swim.20k bike and 5k run she finished 34th overall and 6th in her age group with a total time including transitions of 1 hr 23min 12 sec her splits were swim 7min 48sec, bike 52min 52 sec and run 20 min 20 sec.
