Newark Tennis Club
There was more success for the Newark Tennis Clubs Mens 1st team this weekend as they made it four victories out of four. They welcomed Magdala C who had beaten them during the Summer 2019 league but this game went Newark's way from the beginning as Magdala C only had 5 players and had to concede 36 games. The team were still strong against the remaining pairs with James Lalyk/Sam Smith taking 12-0, 10-2, Ashley Hallam/Gary Brickles 9-3, 9-3 and Adrian Smith/Tony Gammage 10-2, 10-2 giving them an overall result 96-12.
The ladies 1st team were not as fortunate in their first winter match in Div 3 as they travelled to already top of the league Lady Bay, who were fielding a very strong county playing first pair. Sue Bilton/Jane Hendley were most successful taking 2 games from them and then 7-5, 8-4. Steph Smith & Partner 0-12, 7-5, 7-5 and Tamara Bainbridge/Annie Davies 1-11, 3-9, 6-6 giving them an overall result 41-67.
