Busy week for Amelia

Amelia Chrispin

On Wednesday 17th May Amelia took part in her first Open Water event of the season, the Delta Simmonds Junior Aquathlon at Activities Away in Lincoln. This was an open age group event, with 29 Juniors aged 8 - 16 braving the heavy rain and cold water. Amelia swam the 200m and left the water in 6th position. She quickly removed her wetsuit and put on her trainers and sprinted after the leaders.

She caught the leading pack on the first 1km lap of the race and was in 3rd at the start of the 2nd lap. She carried on running well passing the lead girl, crossing the line as 1st girl and 2nd place overall just behind the winning boy. She then had a well deserved hot chocolate!

On Sunday 21st May Amelia travelled to Wakefield to take part in the Wakefield Junior Duathlon. The race was part of the Yorkshire Triathlon Series and was to be a 1600m run - 4km cyclocross bike - 600m run. The race was in the Tristar 2 age group and was a mixed gender race. Amelia had a great run and came started the testing cyclocross bike section in 1st place. She worked hard but was caught by a talented cyclocross bike rider who passed her. Amelia continued to cycle well on the 4 lap course,  but could keep up with the new race leader.

Amelia started the last run in 2nd place and just had too much to make up, with such and short last run, and crossed the line in a well deserved 2nd place.
