Rugby club captain leads the way

Newark Rugby Union Football Club is delighted to confirm that Matt Walton will continue as First Team Captain for the 2026/27 season — his second successive year leading the side. The announcement signals a clear intent from the club’s coaching staff to build on the foundations laid last season.

Head Coach Adam Corcoran commented,                                                                                                                   “Having Matt continue as captain for the new season is exactly what this squad needs. He’s a leader who leads from the front — he doesn’t just talk, he delivers. His work rate, his voice, and his commitment to Newark push the whole squad to be better. A second season with him at the helm gives us real momentum heading into pre-season.

Mens pre-season training is already underway, with Women’s pre-season starting 7th July, all taking place twice weekly on Tuesday & Thursday evenings.
