Coach sent to the stands

Newark hockey men beat Derby to stay top

Newark Hockey Men maintained their top of the table position after a 4-2 victory of Derby at the Magnus in a match that saw their normally placid coach Paul Halfpenny sent to the stands after a fiery exchange with the umpire.

Newark went behind to Derby's first attack after four minutes. Parity was restored on 30 minutes when Ryan Foster fired home

HT 1 -1

Foster put the home side ahead 10 minutes into the second period only for the visitors to fire straight back.

Alex Davis returned from his yellow card to score a brace in last 10 minutes and secure the points but the main talking point was the coaches first card of his managerial career.

F-T 4-2
