Newark Tennis Club doubled their trophy count at this years Notts LTA Awards when they took home the league winners trophies for the summer 2019 short format ladies (Div D), which was collected by Captain Lynne Hare and team member Jill Pinder, and the men’s (Div 5) which was collected by top seeds Sam Smith and James Lalyk.
Back to the tennis and the Mixed 1st suffered another marginal defeat away against David Lloyd West Bridgford B. It took a while for the team to adjust to the skiddy carpet surface but the team fought back with long rallies and excellent play and went into the final round 2 games ahead but then just missed out as the scoreline finished 55-53.
Sam Smith/Sara Jackson 25-11, James Lalyk/Tamara Bainbridge 13-23, Adrian/Steph Smith 15-21.
