Local driver does Well at Buxton World Championship

Sunday 24th September was world Championship race day at Buxtons High Edge Raceway with 3 World Championship races being contended for V8 Stock Cars, Ministox and Rebel classes.

Dave Sharp of Newark had qualified for row 16 in the V8 Hotstox World Final and had a great race, working his way up from 30th on lap one to 17th place before being pushed wide mid race by a fellow competitor on turn two and loosing several places.  He battled on in a very fast race to regain 17thplace which made him the highest placed driver in his grade.

Dave was the recipient of the Stirk family trophy which is awarded to the highest placed white graded driver in the World Final.

When being presented with his trophy and interviewed Dave said “I am very honoured to receive the trophy and very pleased with our result in the World Final especially as we started from the back of the grid in this our first year of racing.”

On the last race of the day, the Bob Radforth Memorial Trophy, Dave had held second place in a close battle with the leading three drivers when he was unfortunately sidelined with a puncture and had to withdraw.

Daves car is currently sponsored by Newark based Laurence Childs of Jalapeno Business services and maintained by Bracher Racing at Burton on the Wolds.
