There were no competitions this weekend, but both James Rutherford and Ed Howlett were representing their universities mid week. James put in another star performance in foil, sabre and epee as Nottingham Trent University beat De Montfort University by 134 points to 75. Meanwhile Ed's King's College London team beat Royal Holloway by an even more crushing margin. Ed only fenced foil but picked up a maximum 15 points while dropping only 2.

The Leon Paul Junior Series has now come to a finish for 2018 and several of our fencers competed in it this year, with Ryan McGahey and Tara Duane entering for the first time at the Robin Hood Foil in September in the U9  and U11 categories respectively. Lizzie Flitcroft entered  U13 competitions in England, Scotland and Wales over the course of the year, finishing in 30th place overall. Arthur Eakin was a regular competitor, finishing 16th from 147 fencers. He has another year to go in U13s, where he will be joined by Ethan Dakin, who moves up from the U11s. Ethan finished 1st in that category with 137 fencers, with a maximum 128 points from four first places in competitions, 18 points ahead of his nearest rival.

Finally, Ed has been selected for the GB U20 squad for the junior world cup competitions in Udine  (5th January) and Aix en Provence (19th January).
