Ladies 1s Vs Loughborough Town

It was always going to be a difficult match not having a full team due to absence, injuries and illness but that didn't stop  Newark putting up a fight. Loughborough town came out fighting fit scoring in the first 10 minutes, they then just kept hitting Newark hard leaving the result at 7-0 loss for Newark. Player Katherine Hawkins

Ladies 2s v Ladies 3s

It was an exciting and highly anticipated derby match now that the Ladies 2s and the Ladies 3s are now both playing in the championship and the game attracted lots of support and spectators from the side line.

Both teams were geared up for a good match and came out fighting from the start.  The 2’s started well, attacking the 3s defence hard with some great runs from goal hanger Sara Jackson and Shanade Bradley, but were kept at bay with some great saves from 3s goalie Freya.

The 2’s continued to look strong and won several attacking short corners, although the strong 3s defence meant none were converted.  The 3’s fought back, with some great work in the centre from Susan Tate and Sophie Chambers, however the 2’s broke and Sara Jackson made a run into the attacking D scoring the 2s first goal, half time score was 1-0.

After a pep talk from their coaches, husband and wife team Paul and Sally Halfpenny, the Newark sides continued to work hard on the pitch, Zoe White commanded the 3’s defence, supported by Emily Crisp and Hannah Bond, who had a strong game winning numerous one on one tackles with the 2’s wingers.

The 2’s won several attacking short corners and scored from one with a defection in the D, although the goal was disallowed.  Infuriated, the 2’s responded quickly and Rachel Vickers scored goal number 2 with a a defection from the post after a great save from Freya.  A third goal shortly followed with the score at full time being 3-0 to the 2’s.

Overall an exciting match and both teams are looking forward to rematch in February!

Ladies 4’s v North Notts IV

The Newark Ladies 4ths were victorious against North Notts IV.

From the oppositions opening pushback, Newark put up a strong performance.  They dominated play in the opening half with centre mid Kate making some great solo runs; one of which paid off 10 minutes into the game to open the scoring for Newark.

Soon after, Catherine added to the score line with her debut goal for Newark beating the goalie to make the score 2-0.

Shortly before half time, North Notts made a short corner count to make the score 2-1 at half time.

After the break, Kate continued her impressive form to score her second goal and extend Newark’s lead.  Shortly after, and following another strong run with good support from the wing, Kate completed her hat-trick, giving Newark a 4-1 lead.

The Newark defence was solid throughout the game although it couldn’t prevent North Notts scoring their second goal.  In the last few minutes, Millie completed the scoring with a well-deserved goal for Newark to make the final score a comfortable 5-2 victory for Newark.

Player of the match was awarded to Kate.
