It was horrid

Newark Striders Running Club

The heavens opened to give a rainy start to race day but that didn't dampen the Strider spirit with nine taking on the hilly Newton Fraction half marathon in Grantham. 

First to finish for Striders and achieving a new club record ( to be confirmed ) was James Rastall in a fantastic time of 1:21:20 with three others in quick succession Dan Stephen 1:29:24 PB, 

Mark Jackson 1:29:51 and Dave Tilley 1:32:31, with Mark Winter next in 1:38:40 and Nick Beveridge 1:47:58, the ladies followed led by Beverley Hancock in 1:57:27, Stacey Atkins 2:13:38 and Jacqui Jackson 2:15:02.

 

While in Holme Pierrepont fifteen Striders also battled the rain and wind at the East Midlands 10K.

It was a close race between Leroy Lindsay and new member Nige Driscoll for Striders honours with Nige just finishing ahead in a time of  47:02 and Leroy in 47:07. 

There were eleven personal best times achieved and the first of those was by Graham Welsh in 51:17, Dan Endersby 53:45 PB, leading the ladies was new member Cate Driscoll 54:05 followed quickly by Becky Clift 54:14 PB, Jenny Palmer broke the magic one hour target 59:44 PB, Donna Wright 1:00:30 and the next seven ladies all achieved personal best times, 

Di Holmes 1:00:31, Beth Toone 1:03:43, Lynne Boby 1:03:43, Donna Beveridge 1:04:47, Leisa Pickles 1:05:42, Anthea Moisey a birthday PB of 1:08:08 and Theresa Thomas 1:14:58.

 

Meanwhile at the Rushcliffe 10K Dave Dews lead Striders home in a time of 46:46 with Clive Owen and Peter Davis finishing together in 47:08 and Jon Rawson officially wearing Striders colours for the first time  finished in a time of 54:08.

Well done to everyone who ran today , it was horrid !
