Joseph leads the way for Newark Athletic Club

It takes more than frost to stop our Athletic Club youngsters

On a cold and frosty morning, Newark AC set off for the 4th race in the Notts Mini League Cross Country series. By the time we arrived, not only was it cold and frosty, but also raining heavily!

This didn't stop our little people from competing! The first race at Worksop College was for the U11 girls where we saw Anna Clarke coming home first in 9th place, followed by Zoe Smith in 12th and Harriet Monaghan in 23rd place. Next was the U11 boys race with Joseph Monk finishing in 2nd place and Josh Clee in 14th.

Then the U13 girls set off with Niamh Monaghan finishing in 18th place and Beth Wynn-Jones in 22nd place. In the U13 boys our sole competitor was Ben Mason who came home in 26th place. Then we had a team of U15 girls in the next race, with Catherine Booth finishing in 9th place, followed by Ellie Monaghan in 11th place and Alice Gibbs in 12th.

The final race of the day was for the U15 boys. Our only competitor was Tom Braithwaite who finished in 16th place despite not making it to the start line in time for the gun. Excellent running by everyone. One more race to go!
