Local youngsters show the way

Newark Town Warriors

A local junior football team are helping raise awareness of Autism at the same time as showcasing their new kit.

Thanks to donations from parents and supporters, Newark Town FC Under 9’s Warriors are proud to be flying the flag for the condition that affects around 700,000 people in the UK.

Dean Douglas, manager of the team said: “We were discussing the options for a new team kit for 2017-2019 and one of our parents, Nick Rhodes-Yeomans, suggested supporting a local cause in which he is involved with. Nick also very generously offered to contribute the money raised at his late mother’s funeral to kick-start the funding.”

Nick added: “The new kit looks fantastic. The Autism logo on the shirts is so symbolic and on par with the ethos of Newark Town Football Club. The shaking of hands, with the Autistic hand being made up of colorful jigsaw pieces, represents unity, acceptance and respect, something we encourage our players to adopt at every game.”

“The new kit will be worn during the summer as the team enters local junior tournaments and then again at the start of next season.”
