Mixed fortunes for tennis players

Ladies promoted but the men must wait.

On another rainy Sunday two Newark Tennis Club teams managed to take to the courts.

First up were the Men’s 1st at home vs David Lloyd West Bridgford C who were sitting in third in Div 6 just behind Newark. The close fought match ended 11-7 in favour of DLWB with sets from Sam Smith/Adrian Smith 4-2, Sam Butler/Ashley Hallam 2-4, Andy Cole (cptn) and newcomer James Barker 1-5.

The ladies were on court in the afternoon at Caunton and wanted to make it 6 wins from 6 matches and succeeded with another worthy scoreline, 10-2 with sets from Annie Walton/Annie Davies 3-1, Katy Dine/Jill Pinder 4-0 and Lynne Hare (cptn)/Hrudya Kolli. Both teams have one match left.

The ladies cannot be knocked off the top of their league but the men are hoping for some results in their favour to stay in second position and be promoted.
