Monster marathon for team Henderson

Graham Welsh with all the Striders news

We start this week's news north of the border, where Nicole and Noel Henderson were in the city of Inverness for the scenic Baxters Loch Ness Marathon. The Hendersons have been training hard, mixing strength and conditioning work with the running and it brought dividends, with a super time of 3:31:41 for Noel and 5:27:28 for Nicole.

In 10K news it was personal bests all round, Dave Dews ran the Sheffield 10K in a time of 42:54 PB, whilst in the Market Rasen 10K Simon Drury finished in 46:51 PB and Geoff Riley 55:43 PB.

Bev Hancock was in canicross action in Bedford this weekend and won bronze in the 3 KM female category, though asit happens, the course actually turned out to be 3.7 KM long. Daughter Ella did well too, winning silver in the 12-16 juniors.

On Saturday Kaley Riley took part in the Gotri Challenger Aquathon at Colwick, finishing with a time of 54:28.

And so to Equinox 24, where 30 of us were at Belvoir Castle for one of the high points of the Striders calendar. There is one simple aim, complete as many of the tough 10K laps as you can in 24 hours, fast, slow, it doesn't matter. In the team event, the speedy 'Old speckled men' completed 24 laps, Richard Scott (5), Ben Barnard (5), Gary Tasker (5), Mark Winter (5) and Simon Roberts (4). In the pairs 'Choppers' did 13 laps, Mark Jackson (8), Jon Palmer (5), 10 laps for the 'Dynamic Duo', Cate Driscoll (6), Nige Driscoll (4), 'Hare & Tortoise' 10 laps, Sarah-Jane Cobb (6) and Jason Cobb (4). Team 'Padge' registered 8 laps, Niceeta Padgett (4) and Steve Padgett (4).

In the solo category Simon Palmer earned himself the coveted bronze pin for completing 10 laps and Jacqui Jackson put in a really strong performance with 9. Completing 8 laps were Lynne Boby, Graham Welsh and Jon Rawson. 7 laps for Leisa Pickles, Anthea Moisey, Nick Harrison, Andy Scott, Kath Scott, Karen Illsley and Stacey Atkins. Becky Clift and Jenny Palmer did 6 laps, Debbie Bavin 5 Jason Priest and Donna Beveridge finished 4 laps. In the Equinox day 10K, a standalone race run alongside the 24 hour event, Hannah Jackson came in 49th from 183 competitors as 15th fastest female with 55:22.

Well done everyone!
